Celebrating 25 years of support for throat cancer survivors through self-help rehabilitation at Laryngectomee Society.
The Laryngectomee Society, a self-help rehabilitation group for throat cancer survivors, marked its 25th anniversary with a celebration at Apollo Medical College on Sunday.
Established in 1999, the Society has evolved into a vital source of support and inspiration, providing comprehensive rehabilitation for individuals who have undergone laryngectomy — a surgery that involves the removal of the larynx or voice box.
Reflecting on the Society’s journey, founder Umanath Nayak remarked, “When we started this initiative 25 years ago, our aim was to create a platform where patients could find strength in community, regain their confidence and rediscover their voices.”
