Amid the cutbacks today by many companies, workers who have been let go are increasingly posting their tales of woe and job loss on social media. Mental health experts and others weigh in.
"Yesterday was my last day at Spotify," she wrote on LinkedIn. "It feels like a bad dream I should wake up from. I kept waiting for an email saying there has been a mistake." "What do you need to be a strong candidate? Research that." "Was the previous job not a good fit for your interests?" "Layoffs are always tough, with research showing that being unemployed can increase your risk of depression." Use "self-compassion, by treating yourself gently, allowing yourself some rest and realizing you're not alone and there's no shame in what's happened."
