L-G, CM pay tributes to tsunami victims in Puducherry

Lieutenant-Governor and Chief Minister pay tribute to tsunami victims in Puducherry with fishermen community.
Lieutenant-Governor K. Kailashnathan and Chief Minister N. Rangasamy joined the fishermen community in paying rich tributes to tsunami victims in the Union Territory. A function was organised near the Gandhi Statue on Beach Road to pay homage to the victims.
Mr Kailashnathan and Mr Rangasamy offered flower and milk to the sea behind the Gandhi Statue. Minister for Public Works K. Lakshminarayanan, legislators Nehru alias Kuppusamy, P.M.L Kalyanasundaram and leaders of fishermen associations paid homage to the victims. Functions were also held in coastal hamlets such as Kalapet and Veerampattinam to pay homage to fishermen killed in the tsunami. Around 500 people were killed in tsunami that hit the coastal villages of Puducherry and Karaikal regions.
