Krunal had gone through a difficult period in the lead-up to his ODI debut as he had to rush home from Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy commitments when his father passed away. "This one is for my dad. I did get emotional," Krunal said even as he tried to hold back his tears. Krunal was not able to complete the mid-innings interview as he signalled to the camera that he was not being able to control his emotions.
