Apart from the administration and police, a Bengali nationalist group, Bangla Pokhho, has also taken up upon themselves to protect the lakes.
With Chhath Puja being celebrated throughout the state, Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) is taking up all necessary security measures and, like last year, it will not allow Chhath Puja to be observed inside Rabindra Sarobar and Subhas Sarobar, the two biggest public lakes in Kolkata.
Apart from the administration and police, Bengali nationalist group, Bangla Pokhho, has also taken upon themselves to protect the lakes. They claim that the ecology of the lakes is 'vandalised' by 'anti social' elements.
