IPL 2022, KKR vs SRH: After leaving the cricket fraternity surprised with his comments on the CEO's involvement in team selection, KKR captain Shreyas Iyer clarified his comments after leading his side to a 54-run win at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Saturday.
Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer on Saturday, May 14 made it a point to clarify his comments about the CEO's role in team selection matters. Iyer's comments from their previous IPL 2022 match on Monday created a flutter in the cricket fraternity.
Iyer, who was addressing the post-match ceremony as the winning captain after leading KKR to a 54-run win over SunRIsers Hyderabad at the MCA Stadium in Pune, said he wanted to clarify his comments to broadcaster Murali Karthik.
"And also I want to clarify from the last interview when I took the CEO's name, I meant he's there to console the players who are sitting out, it's never easy for them," Iyer said after Saturday's one-sided contest.

Iyer and KKR had faced flak on social media after the KKR captain said on Monday that the CEO is also involved in team selection when asked about the constant chopping and changing that the 2-time champions have done in IPL 2022.
"It's really difficult. I was also in that position once when I started playing IPL. We discuss with the coaches, CEO is also involved in team selection. Baz (head coach Brendon McCullum) goes to the players and tells them if they are not playing. All of them are very supportive of the decision-making," Iyer had said on Monday.
Iyer's comments about the CEO's role helped raise quite a few eyebrows.
