KKR management is to blame: Mohammad Kaif on Kolkata Knight Riders' nightmarish IPL 2022 run

Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif said that Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team management is responsible for the team's poor performance in the IPL 2022.

Former India batter Mohammed Kaif has blamed the Kolkata Knight Riders' team management for KKR's nightmarish run in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Kaif is of the opinion that KKR did well at the auction, but failed to utilize its resources well during the ongoing season.

Kaif further stated that KKR have tried several combinations by making a lot of changes to their playing XIs for different matches and this chopping and changing approach has had a negative effect on the team environment and also adds extra pressure on the players.

Two-time winners KKR, under new captain Shreyas Iyer, came a cropper against Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday and the huge margin of defeat has left them with eight points from 11 games. They have three matches left and the maximum they can reach is 14 points, which is again something that cannot guarantee even a fourth-place finish.

"KKR had a lot of players, but they couldn't play them and made too many changes in their playing XI. These changes add pressure on the players and it is difficult to play in such an environment. KKR management is to blame for this situation as they have done a lot of chopping and changing," Kaif said while speaking on Sportskeeda.

"Players are always motivated to perform well and win matches for their team. They want to do well as their reputation is at stake. While both teams haven't had a great season, any player who'd get a chance would want to contribute to the success of the team," Kaif added.
