The Kerala High Court granted 10 more days for the prosecution to examine new witnesses in actor assault case against Dileep. He is the eighth accused in the case.
The Kerala High Court granted ten more days for the prosecution to examine new witnesses in the actor assault case against Dileep. The decision comes in the wake of a plea filed by the prosecution pointing out that some of the witnesses live outside the state and one among them is Covid positive.
The High Court had earlier granted time to examine five additional witnesses. The trial in the case is expected to end by February 16.

The case pertains to an incident in 2017 when a female actor was abducted and assaulted in Kochi. The police have arrested Pulsar Suni, the main accused in the case. Actor Dileep is alleged to have given contract to Suni to assault the actor. He is the eighth accused in the case.
Crime Branch is now investigating actor Dileep and five others for conspiring to harm the investigation officer of the actor assault case.
Opposing the plea from the prosecution, the defence maintained that the Supreme Court itself had rejected the plea for a trial extension in the case the other day.
The Supreme Court rejected the plea by the Kerala government seeking more time to complete trial on January 24. The state had asked for orders to extend the time period by six more months.
