
Kerala: Four cops stabbed while attempting to arrest accused in drug case

Four police officers were stabbed, by a man who is accused in a drug case, while attempting to arrest him in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram.
Four police officials were stabbed in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram while trying to nab an accused in a drug case at Kallambalam on Tuesday.
The accused was identified as Mohammad Anas. He was arrested following the attack. The incident took place at around 6 pm on Tuesday.
Anas attacked policemen from the Kallambalam police station who were trying to take him into custody in a drug case. The police had received a tip regarding his whereabouts.
Chandu, Jayan, Sreejith, Vimodh and Vijith were the police officers injured in the attack. All four cops suffered critical injuries. While two have been admitted to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, two others are admitted to the Government Medical College in Paripally.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
