The All Kerala Rohit Sharma Fans Association built a huge cut out of the Indian captain ahead of the first match of the series in Thiruvananthapuram. The fan club also posted on Twitter, saying "That's how we welcome the Hitman to God's own country."

Rohit Sharma had earlier spoken glowingly about local fan favorite Sanju Samson, acknowledging his potential and match-winning ability.

"As a team management, we see lot of potential, we see lot of talent and we see lot of match-winning abilities in Sanju Samson. I hope we give him that confidence when he gets playing for us, and whenever he gets an opportunity I hope he understands that and definitely he is under consideration, which is why he is part of this team," said Rohit.
