A Kerala police officer was fired for passing on information about Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) workers to the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI).
A Kerala police officer was fired after leaking official information about Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) workers to the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), a political wing of the Islamist Popular Front of India (PFI).
Anas PK, a police officer at the Karimannur police station in Kerala's Idukki district, was fired on Wednesday.
According to intelligence reports, Anas PK allegedly leaked over 200 RSS and BJP workers' personal information from a police database to SDPI.
Following an enquiry, Anas PK was suspended. A show-cause notice was also served prior to the dismissal. His response, however, was deemed inadequate, and he was dismissed from service.
On December 3, a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus driver was dragged from the bus and beaten by SDPI workers in Thodupuzha, Idukki district, Kerala. This attack was motivated by a disagreement over social media posts.
Meanwhile, six SDPI employees were arrested and their cellphones were seized.
During the investigation, Anas PK was found to be leaking information from the police database through the mobile phone of one of the arrested SDPI employees.
