Kavitha stages protest against hike in bus pass rates
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC and Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha, along with activists of her cultural outfit, staged a protest in front of Bus Bhavan, TGSRTC headquarters, here on Tuesday against the increase in students and general monthly bus pass charges.
They raised slogans and demanded a rollback, stating that it would burden students and passengers, particularly the small-salary employees and daily wagers.
On an average, the hike in rates would have an additional burden of at least ₹250 per month on general passengers and ₹200 on students on general bus passes.
BRS students’ wing president G. Srinivas Yadav also criticised the hike in bus pass charges. On one hand, government is providing free bus travel to women and on the other hand, their family members are being burdened, he said.
