Karnataka electricity tariff: Energy charges come down by 10 paise for domestic consumers, fixed charges go up

Karnataka reduces electricity tariff across all categories, offering rebates and fixed charges adjustments for upcoming years.
Ahead of Ugadi, electricity consumers in Karnataka get good news as the electricity tariff in the State across all categories have been reduced. In the first multi-year tariff (MYT) order pronounced by the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) on Thursday (March 27, 2025), Low Tension (LT) - I consumers have been given a rebate of 10 paise per unit on electricity charges for the upcoming financial year.
While the energy charges per unit was ₹5.90 in 2024-25, for the year 2025-26, it has been fixed at ₹5.80. Under MYT model, the energy charges for 2026-27 and 2027-28 have also been fixed at ₹5.80 and ₹5.75 respectively.
The fixed charges, on the other hand, will go up by ₹25 kilowatt (KW) per month in the first year, by ₹5 KW per month in the second year and by ₹10 KW per month in the third year.
The tariff relief also comes for industrial and commercial consumers as High Tension (HT) - II energy charges have been reduced from ₹6.90 to ₹6.60 for the upcoming two years and ₹6.50 for the third year.
