Karl-Anthony Towns sits out with knee issue as Jalen Brunson remains in Knicks’ lineup
NY Post
Karl-Anthony Towns and Jalen Brunson both were listed as questionable for Saturday night’s game against the Pistons, but only one of the Knicks’ two leading scorers remained in the lineup.
Towns, who missed one game earlier this season with a right knee issue, was a late addition to the league’s official injury report earlier in the day and was unavailable due to what the Knicks are terming patellar tendinopathy of his left knee.
Brunson remained in the lineup despite suffering a lower-back contusion and sitting the final 14-plus minutes of Thursday’s win over the Hornets at the Garden following a third-quarter collision.
Towns, the four-time All-Star center who was acquired from the Timberwolves in September, is averaging a team-best 25.2 points, a shade more than Brunson’s 25.1 scoring average.
Towns’ 13.2 rebounds per game also ranked second in the league heading into Saturday’s action, behind only Denver’s three-time MVP Nikola Jokic (13.4).
Towns sat out the team’s Nov. 15 win over the Nets, marking the only game missed by any of the Knicks’ starting five this season.

‘Freak of nature: Zion Williamson’s resurgence could pose a Knicks problem versus motivated Pelicans
Zion Williamson is slimmer and healthier for his trip to MSG.

Almost a year to the day after a goaltender interference call against Kyle Palmieri lost the Islanders a game against the Blue Jackets that started their season’s death spiral, they were on the wrong end of another controversial call against those same Blue Jackets that might have had the same effect.

SAN DIEGO — As you may have seen elsewhere in this newspaper (and also if you haven’t deleted me yet from your social media), I have a book coming out Tuesday called “The Bosses of The Bronx.” Much of it details the 37 years’ worth of antics, winning, losing, winning again and overall mania of George Steinbrenner’s time with the Yankees.
