QNADohaThe Joint Committee of the Shura Council’s Legal and Legislative Affairs and Financial and Economic Affairs Committees met on Thursday, led by HE Mohammed bin Mahdi Al-Ahbabi, member of the Committee, in the presence of Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council HE Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti.During the meeting, the committee examined the draft of social security law in the presence of Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers Hamad bin Ahmed Al-Mohannadi, who answered to the committee’s inquiries and remarks based on a number of prior meetings.The Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers also clarified and explained a number of draft law provisions about which the committee had raised concerns during earlier meetings.The joint committee will continue to meet in order to finalise the two draft social security and military retirement laws, by hosting representatives from the country’s competent authorities to answer the committee’s inquiries and observations on the aforementioned two projects in order to clarify all of their aspects.
