John Barla's appointment as Union Minister proves BJP backs Bengal bifurcation: TMC

A day after Alipurduar MP John Barla was appointed as a Union minister, TMC leaders took a dig at the BJP and said the party's support to Barla proves it supports bifurcation of West Bengal.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has alleged that the appointment of Alipurduar MP John Barla as Union minister indicated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supported bifurcation of West Bengal. However, BJP has denied the charges. John Barla was made the Minister of State for Minority Affairs on Wednesday as the Narendra Modi-led government reshuffled the Council of Ministers.
