Jhulan Goswami pens heartfelt retirement note: The journey has been most satisfying

Legendary fast bowler Jhulan Goswami took to social media to share a heartfelt note, expressing her satisfaction over a celebrated career. The 39-year-old played her last international match on Saturday at the Lord's.

Legendary Jhulan Goswami penned a heartfelt farewell note on Sunday, September 25 confirming her retirement from all formats of the game. Jhulan played her final international match at the Lord's on Saturday as she bowed out on a high contributing to a historic 3-0 sweep of an ODI series for India women against England women in England.

Jhulan Goswami took to social media on Sunday to share a farewell note, expressing her satisfaction over her celebrated career. Jhulan finished her career with 255 wickets, an all-time record in women's ODIs, from 204 matches. In her international swansong, Jhulan picked up 2 wickets as India defeated England by 16 runs, successfully defending a 169-run target.

"To my cricket family and beyond. So, the day has finally arrived! Like every journey has an end, my cricket journey of over 20 years ends today as I announce my retirement from all forms of cricket.

"As Ernest Hemingway said, "it's good to have an end to journey towards, but it is the journey that matters in the end'. For me, this journey has been the most satisfying. It has been exhilarating, thrilling to say the least, adventurous. I have had the honour of donning the India jersey for over two decades and serving my country at the best of my abilities. There is a sense of pride every time I hear the National Anthem before a match, Jhulan Goswami wrote.

Jhulan, who made her debut in 2002, was given a perfect send-off. England players gave her a guard of honour on Saturday and her India teammates carried her during the victory lap at the Lord's.
