All eyes were on Goswami as she walked out to play the final match of her international career. The Indian pacer was presented a special memento before the start of the game and conducted the toss alongside skipper Harmanpreet Kaur.
Amy Jones won the toss for England and decided to bowl first. Kate Cross gave England the start they needed, dismissing opener Shafali Verma, wicket-keeper Yastika Bhatia and skipper Harmanpreet in quick succession. But Smriti Mandhana got India back in the game with a well-paced half century. However, wickets kept falling around her as England piled the pressure on India. Soon, Cross picked up her fourth wicket of the day by dismissing Mandhana. Deepti Sharma along with Pooja Vastrakar took on the responsibility of keeping the scoreboard ticking for India. Deepti went on to score an unbeaten 68 in 106 balls as India got bowled out for 169 runs in 45.4 overs. Cross was the pick of the bowlers for England, claiming four wickets and giving away just 26 runs in 10 overs.
In the second innings, the Indian bowling attack led by Jhulan Goswami came out all guns blazing. Renuka Singh destroyed England's top order by dismissing openers Tammy Beaumont and Emma Lamb, before cleaning up Sophia Dunkley. Goswami also got in on the party, dismissing Alice Capsey to claim her 354th international wicket. England skipper Amy Jones put up a defensive front but wickets kept falling around her. Rajeshwari Gayakwad dismissed Danni Wyatt and Sophie Ecclestone, before Renuka Singh picked her fourth wicket of the day by getting rid of Jones. Goswami then went on to claim her final wicket in the form of Kate Cross. Charlotte Dean was looking good at 46 but was ran out by Deepti Sharma on her delivery stride as India bundled England over for 153, beating them by 16 runs.
The Indian women's team provided the 39-year-old with a perfect parting gift as they whitewashed England 3-0 at Lord's. Goswami walks away from international cricket as the record wicket-taker across all formats, with 355 wickets to her name.
