Jharkhand Police has released imaged of alleged riotes part of Ranchi protests against Nupur Sharma.

Jharkhand Police on Monday released images of alleged rioters who were part of violent Ranchi protests against Nupur Sharma's Prophet remarks. As many as 18 people have been identified by the police so far.

Tension prevailed in Ranchi, as shops and other establishments remained shut amid heavy deployment of security forces in the wake of violent protests over controversial comments on Prophet Mohammad. However, internet services were restored after 33 hours.

As many as two people were killed and more than two dozen were critically injured, when protests and clashes rocked the city after the Friday prayers. FIRs have been filed against over 10,000 unnamed people.

The protesters have been demanding the arrest of suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and expelled leader Naveen Jindal for their controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammad.

Meanwhile, a public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed before the Jharkhand High Court, seeking an NIA probe into the recent violence that had broken out in Ranchi.
