Celebrations will be in full swing around the London-area tonight, with baseball fans ready to cheer on the Toronto Blue Jays as they take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in the first game of the World Series tonight.
There will be watch parties across the city, including at large scale venues such as 100 Kellogg Lane, Canada Life Place downtown and the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in nearby St. Marys.
Kellogg Lane will transform The Factory and its Club House sports bar to create the "ultimate watch party" for Londoners.
"As a die hard sports fan myself, this is 32 years in the making and these moments don't come often," said Dave Sheedy, vice president of sales and marketing.
"At the end of the day, these are core memories that will last a lifetime. So we want [fans] to experience it here and remember where they were. Everyone always asks 'Where were you when' and we think we have the opportunity to be that destination for Londoners."
The entertainment complex will be lit up in blue and will play the game on a 96-foot screen in The Factory's trampoline park so parents can keep an eye on the game, and their kids.
The Club House will have food and drink specials, a simulator for people to swing a bat and ball around, as well as a chance for fans to win a pair of tickets to Game 6. Kellogg Lane will be hosting watch parties for each game throughout the week.
"With sports being the ultimate unifier. I think the excitement and pandemonium behind the Blue Jays is all across Canada," said Sheedy.
Other venues are also making room for watch parties. Canada Life Place will air tonight's game, right alongside the London Knights game, said Danielle Phillips the director of marketing with Oakview Group. at Canada Life Place.
"Obviously, it's a big night for Canadian sports. And you know, a lot of Knights' fans are also going to be wanting to watch the Jays game," she said.
"As soon as the Knights' game ends, we will switch the scoreboard to display the Jays game so people can stick around."
Concessions normally close during the third period of the hockey game but they will be open until the eighth inning of the Jays' game, Phillips said.
"We're just excited to celebrate all the excitement for the Jays game tonight with everyone in London and all of Canada, really," Phillips added. "It's very cook and a significant day for Canadian sports, especially Jays fans this has been a long time coming."
