Ranji Trophy Final: Paras Dogra is set to be fined after his on-field clash with KV Aneesh during the Ranji Trophy final. The flashpoint briefly sparked chaos but did little to stop Jammu and Kashmir's march to 584.
Jammu and Kashmir captain Paras Dogra is set to be fined 50 percent of his match fees after a rare on-field flashpoint with Karnataka substitute fielder KV Aneesh during Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy final in Hubli. The incident added an unexpected edge to what had otherwise been a contest defined by patience and long hours at the crease.
Dogra, who had returned to bat after retiring hurt on 9 on Day 1, was settling back in when things briefly boiled over following some close-in chatter from the Karnataka camp. After appearing to be at the receiving end of sledging from Aneesh, the J&K skipper walked up and headbutted the substitute fielder, sparking immediate tension between the two sides.

While the official word from match referee Narayanan Kutty is still awaited, the expectation is that Dogra will face a financial penalty, with the moment largely viewed as a heat-of-the-battle reaction rather than anything malicious.
The episode did little to derail Jammu and Kashmir’s progress in the larger scheme of things. By Day 3, a determined lower-order effort, led by Sahil Lotra’s gritty 72 off 138 balls, carried them to an imposing total of 584 all out.
The controversial moment arrived in the 101st over on Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy final.
