The income tax department has asked taxpayers to remember that non-filers may not get a refund, if due. To avoid becoming a non-filer, taxpayers must file ITR today.
The income tax return (ITR) filing last date is on Thursday. Taxpayers need to complete the procedure to avoid becoming non-filers and paying higher Tax Deducted at Source (TDS). Meanwhile, today is also the last date for linking Aadhaar with PAN. Taxpayers need to link Aadhaar with PAN in order to avoid penalty up to Rs 1,000.

1. Taxpayers need to check the Annual Information Statement (AIS) or 26 AS for the Assessment Year (AY) 2021-22 to check whether they need to file ITR for AY 2021-22 or not.
2. The income Tax department said, "Not filing ITR can result in higher TDS next year." If you fail to file ITR for AY 2021-22, the TDS rate applicable to you may increase.
