YSRCP President Jagan Mohan Reddy defends Hindu temples, accuses NDA of neglecting religious sites, and criticizes Pawan Kalyan.
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has said in a social media message on Thursday (March 27, 2025) that it was during his regime Hindu Dharma was protected, citing the steps taken by his government for the protection of Kasinayana Kshetram in Badvel constituency as an evidence of it, and alleged that the Hindu Dharma and temples came under attack after NDA formed the government in June 2024.
He stated that as the Chief Minister, he wrote a letter on August 18, 2023 to the then Union Minister of Environment and Forests Bhupender Yadav, seeking exemption of 12.98 hectares of land on which the Kasinayana Kshetram is located from Forest Department’s purview and reserving it for the shrine.
Mr. Mohan Reddy pointed out that the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests had issued orders on August 7, 2023 to halt constructions and remove structures at the Kasinayana Kshetram located in a forest area, but he intervened in the matter for protection of the shrine.
He said he clearly mentioned in the letter that the YSRCP government would pay compensation or comply with restrictions imposed, without fail. It was following that assurance the Central Government gave up its action.
“During the YSRCP’s tenure, no one dared to take a single step against the Kasinayana Kshetram. That was a testament to it (YSRCP)’s commitment to protecting temples and spiritual centres.”
On the other hand, the entire State witnessed what happened at the same Kasinayana Kshetram after the NDA came to power. Obviously, bulldozers razed the shrine under the supervision of the State Government, on the orders of the Kadapa District Collector, and it was overseen by the RDO concerned.
The demolition would not have taken place without the supervision of the Deputy CM K. Pawan Kalyan and Special Chief Secretary (Environment and Forests).
