U.S. President Donald Trump threatened further strikes on Iran’s Kharg Island oil export hub and urged allies to send warships to secure the Strait of Hormuz, as Tehran vowed to step up its response and the war showed no sign on Sunday (March 15, 2026) of coming to an end. The comments marked an escalation in rhetoric from the President, who had previously said the U.S. targeted only military sites on Kharg.
Meanwhile, the Israeli Military said on Saturday (March 14, 2026) it had killed two senior Iranian intelligence officials in a strike in Tehran. Israel said the two men, identified as Abdollah Jalali-Nasab and Amir Shariat, were senior officials in the intelligence directorate of the Khatam al-Anbiya, the Iranian Military’s central operations command.
Iran will target American companies in the region if its energy facilities are attacked in the U.S.-Israeli war against the Islamic republic, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said. Mr. Araghchi said the U.S. attacks on Kharg had used short-range rockets launched from two bases in the UAE, including one close to Dubai.
