Doha: Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Majid bin Mohammed Al-Ansari, said that the state of Qatar considered the attack a serious and unexpected escalation, particularly in light of the country's continuous efforts to promote dialogue and mediate peaceful solutions to regional crises.
This came during a live joint press conference aired on Qatar Television this evening, June 23, 2025, following Iranian missile attacks that targeted the US air base at Al Udeid.
Dr. Al-Ansari stressed that the State of Qatar is reaffirming its firm stance on resolving disputes through diplomacy and dialogue, and calls on all parties to return to the negotiating table and exercise restraint in order to preserve regional stability and security.
For his part, the Deputy Chief of Joint Operations of the Qatari Armed Forces, Shayeq Al-Hajri, confirmed that intelligence was received indicating that military bases in the region, including Al-Udeid Air Base, were potential targets.
Al-Hajri said that at approximately 7:30 pm, they were alerted that seven missiles were launched from Iran toward the Al Udeid Air Base. Later on, it was confirmed that Al Udeid Air Base was targeted with a total 12 missiles, according to the Deputy Chief of Joint Operations of the Qatari Armed Forces.
