IPL 2022: Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant talked up his equation with head coach Ricky Ponting, saying the former Australia captain brings in extra energy to the field during training sessions.
Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant said on Monday that he is excited for the new Indian Premier League (IPL) season, and it was nice to link up with head coach Ricky Ponting once again, saying meeting the former Australia captain gives him a feeling of meeting a family member.
Rishabh Pant, who will lead the Capitals for the second successive season, said Ricky Ponting brings energy t the field and that youngsters in the side look up to the legendary former cricketer.
With Ponting at the helm, Delhi Capitals have become one of the most consistent sides in the IPL, reaching the final in 2020 the play-offs after topping the table in 2021.
"It's always special whenever I meet him. It's like meeting a family member. Whenever he comes to the field, he brings that energy out of everyone. Everyone looks up to him. Everyone expects that he is going to say something different. He is going to attract everybody. So everyone is looking positive after watching Ricky in action," Pant told the Delhi Capitals after his first training session with the team.
Notably, Delhi Capitals have gone through a makeover with the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Marcus Stoinis, Kagiso Rabada, and R Ashwin moving away in the lead up to the new 10-team season. However, the Capitals did smart trades during the IPL 2022 auction and brought in exciting names, including David Warner, Shardul Thakur, Lungi Ngidi, Rovman Powell, Mustafizur Rahman, Mitchell Marsh and India's U19 World Cup-winning captain Yash Dhull among others.
