IPL 2022, RCB vs KKR: Harshal Patel equals teammate Mohammed Siraj's record with 2 maidens

IPL 2022: Harshal Patel picked up 2 wickets and bowled 2 maidens as RCB bowling unit bounced back from a horror night against PBKS to bundle out KKR for 128 in 18.5 overs in their 2nd match of the new season.

After a horror outing against Punjab Kings in their iPL 2022 opener, Royal Challengers Bangalore bowlers come out all guns firing in their 2nd match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Dy Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday.

It was a combined effort from RCB bowlers as Faf du Plessis marshaled his troops wonderfully well. Harshal Patel stood out with his wily bowling effort, picking up the crucial wickets of KKR big-hitters Andre Russell and Sam Billings.

Harshal made sure KKR did not ride on a Russell special as the West Indies big-hitter was looking to go big while batting with the tail. After Russell hit two big sixes in Shahbaz Ahmed's over, the star batter fell to a perfectly-executed wide delivery from Harshal.

Harshal did not concede a single run in his first two overs during which he knocked over Billings and Russell, adding to KKR's woes.

By doing so, Harshal became only the 2nd bowler in the history of the Indian Premier League to bowl 2 maidens in an innings. Harshal equalled his teammate Mohammed Siraj's record for the most maiden in an IPL innings.

Notably, Siraj had also got to the landmark against Kolkata Knight Riders. The India pacer had finished figures of ? after the two maidens in their meeting in Abu Dhabi in IPL 2020.

Harshal finished with figures of 2/11 from his four overs on Wednesday as KKR were struggling to post a competitive total. RCB trusted their Purple Cap winner from 2021 as they bought Harshal at the IPL 2022 mega auction for Rs 10.75 crore. Harshal had picked up 32 wickets last season.
