IPL 2022 Playoffs Qualification Scenarios: RCB, Delhi Capitals in 4-way race after LSG book berth

IPL 2022: Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants are the only 2 teams to have sealed a place in the playoffs with 4 league matches left to be played. Rajasthan Royals, who are in the 3rd spot, have a good chance of making it, while Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalaore are still in the race.

Lucknow Super Giants became the second team to book a place in the IPL 2022 playoffs after their nerve-wracking 2-run win over 2-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders in Navi Mumbai on Wednesday, May 18.

The two new teams in IPL 2022, Gujarat Titans and LSG, have been the first two teams to book a spot in the playoffs, while the three most successful sides, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata have been shown the door early.

Technically, there are two spots up for grabs with 4 more league games to go, but Rajasthan Royals, who are in the 3rd spot with 16 points, are all but through to the playoffs.

Delhi Capitals, who are in the 4th spot with 14 points, and Royal Challengers Bangalore, who are in the 5th spot with 14 points as well, have a better chance of making the final four than Punjab Kings and SunRIsers Hyderabad, who have 12 points each.

RR are sitting pretty in 4th spot with 16 points a healthy Net Run Rate of +0.304. If they beat CSK in their final game, Rajasthan will be assured of a place in the top 2 as they will leapfrog LSG into the 2nd spot.
