IPL 2022: Gujarat Titans are on top of their game, says Mathew Hayden

Former Australian cricketer Mathew Hayden was all praise for IPL 2022 debutants Gujarat Titans after they beat Punjab Kings by 6 wickets at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai on Friday. He said that right now they are at the top of their game at the moment and have lots of spirits.

IPL 2022 debutants Gujarat Titans have a 100% win record in the tournament so far, getting three wins out of three. Their latest win came against Punjab Kings by 6 wickets at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai on Friday.

Hardik Pandya’s men successfully chased down a target of 189 runs that involved batter Shubman Gill getting 96 runs off just 59 deliveries, smashing 11 fours and 1 six. GT captain Pandya got 27 off 18, which included 5 fours. Mathew Hayden praised Gill after the game, saying that he controlled the game at the top of the order.

Former Australian cricketer Mathew Hayden was all praise for GT after their win over PBKS, saying that they are 'red hot' and also praised batter Shubman Gill for his match-winning innings for the franchise.

“You can only play as good as your team. And they are right on the top of their game at the moment. Shubman Gill controlling the game at the top of the order. And of course their fast men as well, through the centre stage of this game as well. All in all I feel, he is the bloke I feel at the moment that every other franchise will be looking and thinking...how are we going to defeat GT. They are really red hot," Hayden told Star Sports.

Hardik Pandya has led Gujarat Titans incredibly well, making good use of their mix of local as well as overseas players. The skipper has been out for several months through injury and has made a great comeback.

Gujarat Titans are the team to beat as they have defeated fellow debutants Lucknow Super Giants in the opener and then Delhi Capitals in the following game. Hayden said that there is a lot of depth and spirit in this GT side.
