IPL 2022: Bollywood star Ranveer Singh and music maestro AR Rahman to perform in the closing ceremony

The final of the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is set to take place between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

The closing ceremony of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is all set to take place on Sunday, May 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad after the final between Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans (GT) and Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals (RR).

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh and music maestro AR Rahman are set to set the stage on fire in the post-tournament event. Previously, Ranveer was seen showing his support for the Mumbai Indians (MI) from the stands.

The extravaganza will also feature Jharkhand’s famous Chhau Dance. If reports are to be believed, the BCCI has finalised a 10-member team of Jharkhand’s Chhau Dance for the closing ceremony.

Sourav Ganguly, the BCCI president, Jay Shah, the honourary BCCI secretary, and former Indian skippers are most likely to attend the event in Ahmedabad. The board is set to celebrate India’s 75th year of Independence and show the journey of Indian cricket during these times.

Back in April, it was learned that the BCCI was contemplating hosting a closing ceremony, but there were doubts over it due to the hassles surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.

The cash-rich T20 tournament hasn’t been a witness to a closing ceremony since the 2019 edition. Earlier, the BCCI also stated that a 'Request for Proposal’ document would be available for Rs 1 lakh.

"The BCCI invites bids from reputed entities for staging the Closing Ceremony of IPL 2022, through a tender process," the Indian board was quoted as saying earlier.
