IPL 2021: Shikhar Dhawan and Delhi Capitals dominated the Indian Premier League charts before the T20 tournament was suspended indefinitely on Tuesday. Risahbh Pant's men were a couple of wins away from reaching the play-offs while Sunrisers Hyderabad were reelinng at the bottom of the points table.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 was postponed indefinitely on Tuesday after Covid-19 cases across multiple franchises were reported over the last two days. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the decision, stressing that it did not want to compromise on the safety and well-being of players, support staff and other stakeholders who were involved in the IPL. The BCCI on Tuesday also stressed that it would everything in its powers to ensure a safe and secure return for players, support staff and broadcasters amid travel restrictions put in place by various governments. India has been badly by the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic which has led to the healthcare system being pushed to the brink. However, IPL 2021 was played across 4 cities in strict bio-bubble environments. As many as 6 venues were picked by the BCCI to host the IPL. 29 matches were played from April to May 2 before Match 30 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore was rescheduled on Monday.
