The St. Thomas Police Service (STPS) is investigating a sudden death in the southwestern Ontario city, provincial police said Sunday afternoon.
In an announcement that shares few details, OPP said they were dispatched for a call in relation to a missing 58-year-old Central Elgin resident just before 11 a.m., Sunday.
Just over an hour later, they said, the missing person was found dead in the city.
Police said residents in the area where the body was found should expect an increased police presence for some time, although they did not specify the location.
OPP said the STPS is investigating.

With its emergency shelter beds frequently running at 50 per cent over capacity and demand so great that it's forced to refer some women escaping domestic violence elsewhere, Gillian's Place in St. Catharines will soon be able to offer a broader range of services to more victims of gender-based violence.
