Pakistan Cricket Board chief Ramiz Raja has claimed that India crashed out of the Asia Cup because they weren't allowing the winning model to set by making too many changes. India failed to reach the final after their two losses in the Super Fours stage.
Pakistan Cricket board (PCB) chief Ramiz Raja said that India crashed out of this year's Asia Cup because they weren't allowing the winning combination to set by making too many changes to the team.
The Indian team's campaign in UAE got off to a perfect start after they defeated Pakistan and Hong Kong in the group stages. However, things unravelled in the Super Fours stage as Rohit Sharma and his men lost back-to-back games to Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Despite winning against Afghanistan, the other results didn't go India's way and they were knocked out of the tournament before the final.
Speaking ahead of the Asia Cup final, as quoted by News 18, Raja drew a comparison between India and Pakistan and explained why the latter are using the same combination always.
The PCB chief also said that India made far too many changes and didn't allow the winning model to set and that is why they exited the Asia Cup without reaching the final.
“You have seen the team’s ranking; the results are also visible. If we compare the teams of India and Pakistan, people have been asking me why am I playing the same combination? You will leave them injured or so My point is that we have handled a particular situation and won games. So, why should I change the winning model,” said Raja.
“India went down only because they are not letting the model set. They are making too many changes. They have a bigger pool of players with which they are experimenting. So, unless you don’t have that kind of bench strength, you don’t need experimentation."
