Axar brought up his maiden Test fifty in the first innings, scoring 52 in India's total of 325 and followed it up with a quickfire 26-ball 41 not out in the second innings which took the hosts to 276 for 7 before Virat Kohli decided to declare and set New Zealand a target of 540 to win at the Wankhede Stadium.
