India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series against West Indies in Port of Spain after Axar's 64 not out on Sunday (July 25). The 28-year-old went in to bat during the 39th over, when the Men in Blue needed 105 runs.
Axar along with Deepak Hooda formed a 51-run partnership for the sixth wicket before Hooda departed for 33 runs. Although wickets were tumbling at the other end, Axar stood tall in front of the West Indies bowlers and took India home with a two-wicket win.
Rohit Sharma, who was rested for the ODI series against West Indies, hailed the Shikhar Dhawan-led team, saying: "Woah that was some performance from team India last night. Bapu badhu Saru che @akshar2026 @bcci."
