Dinesh Karthik played a quickfire knock of 41 not out off just 19 balls after India's middle-order failed against West Indies in the first T20I.
India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik expressed his happiness after the Men in Blue defeated West Indies by 68 runs in the first T20I of the five-match series on Friday (July 29).
Karthik, who joined the Indian squad for the T20Is in the Caribbean, hit a quickfire 41 not out off just 19 balls to help India post 190 for 6 after being put into bat. The 37-year-old's innings set up the match for the visitors after India's middle-order, which didn't include Suryakumar Yadav as he was sent in to open, failed to build on the start given by captain Rohit Sharma (64 off 44).
India's bowlers then successfully restricted West Indies to 122 for 8, with Ravichandran Ashwin, Arshdeep Singh and Ravi Bishnoi taking two wickets each.
"Turning on the heat. Good to start off the series with a win!" Karthik, the Player of the Match, tweeted.
