India to play 2 T20Is in Ireland in June, likely to send second-string team

Cricket Ireland confirmed India's tour of the country for the 2-match T20I series in June. Ireland will also play New Zealand, South Africa and Afghanistan in a busy summer.
Cricket Ireland on Tuesday confirmed India's tour of Ireland in June. The World No. 1 T20I side is all set to play 2 T20is on June 26 and 28 before the start of their England tour.
Ireland, who qualified for the T20 World Cup in 2022, will play white-ball series against India, New Zealand, South Africa and Afghanistan over a 2-month period, the Cricket Ireland said.
However, the series is unlikely to see top players such as all-format skipper Rohit Sharma, star batter Virat Kohli, first-choice wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah in action as the remaining one Test match from the last year's tour of England is scheduled to held from July 1-5.
India played 4 Tests in England and were leading the series 5-1 before the final match n Manchester was suspended due to Covid-19 scare in the Indian camp last year. The ECB and the BCCI decided to complete the series before India's limited-overs tour of England in 2022.
"This summer will be a 'Season of Stars' as India, New Zealand and Afghanistan tour Ireland, while we will play South Africa in Bristol. We're set for the biggest home international season in Ireland ever!" Cricket Ireland tweeted.
India will kick off Ireland's bumper home summer by playing the two T20Is ahead of their tour to England, which starts with last summer's rescheduled fifth Test at Edgbaston on July 1.
After that, India is scheduled to play six white-ball matches -- three T20Is and three ODIs -- against England from July 7.
