India spinner Ravi Bishnoi says he would love to bowl with Rashid Khan: Will learn how to bowl in partnerships

India spinner Ravi Bishnoi has made a big impact since his debut for the Indian side. The spinner talks about cricket during his formative years and what will be his dream moment.

India leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi has been a revelation since he started playing in the Indian Premier League. The highest wicket-taker in the U19 World Cup in 2020, Bishnoi is one of the modern breed of leg spinners, relying more on his pace and drift instead of turn and flight. Bishnoi has been successful for the rare ability to bowl against a left-hander and was even given a shot for India's Asia Cup squad.

The spinner performed well against Pakistan, but was not picked in the 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup. Talking about his formative years in cricket, Bishnoi said that originally he was a medium pacer who turned into a spinner.

“I started as a medium pacer but switched to leg spin and developed an interest and enjoyed the art of leg spin. That is when I started taking cricket seriously when I was around 11-12 years old,” remembered Bishnoi on Sports18.

Talking about his parents and coaches, Bishnoi said that he was thankful for their support.“My two coaches have supported me throughout the journey, and they have been my backbone. During the starting days, my parents were very supportive, but in Indian culture, there is a belief that there is no scope in sports. After a few years when my coaches explained my potential to them, they started supporting me.”“The IPL has supported me a lot because in age group cricket everyone is of the same age or maybe younger but in IPL there is no age limit, senior players, international players so you get to learn a lot when you share the dressing room with these players and you get to bowl to so many legends,” Bishnoi talked about the Indian Premier League.Talking about his dream, Bishnoi said that he would want to bowl alongside Afghanistan star Rashid Khan, which would provide him with a lot of learning experience.

“It was fun bowling with Yuzvendra Chahal as you know he is one of the top 5 spinners right now. If I am fortunate enough, I would love to bowl with Rashid Khan because I will get to learn how to bowl in a partnership,” said Bishnoi.

The young leggie is scheduled to fly out to Australia as a member of the reserve squad. Many believed that Bishnoi was a sureshot candidate in the main 15-member team, but it looks like he would have to wait his turn.
