Asia Cup 2022: Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram said on Sunday that players from both sides give it their all and the high-octane contests should be seen as just another cricket game by fans from either side of the border.

Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram on Sunday, September 4 said that fans from both India and Pakistan should treat the contest between both sides as just another cricket match and should not go overboard with their reactions.

India and Pakistan are set to meet for the 2nd time in Asia Cup 2022 as the arch-rivals face each other in their first Super Four match in Dubai on Sunday.

The buzz has been as big as it can get ahead of the Super Four clash as India won the opening-round match against Pakistan by 5 wickets. Pakistan bounced back from the defeat to hammer Hong Kong, bowling the associate team for just 38 runs, the lowest total in the history of Asia Cup. Pakistan flaunted their bowling firepower with left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz and leg-spinner Shadab Khan picking up 7 wickets between them after young fast bowler Naseem Shah broke open the top-order.

India vs Pakistan, Asia Cup 2022 Super Four Updates

With India and Pakistan not playing bilateral cricket since the 2012-13 season, their meeting in ICC tournaments and continental events has garnered a lot of buzz. At the same time, a section of fans crosses the line by trolling on social media and personally attacking players who don't perform and have a bad day in India vs Pakistan contests.

Speaking to Star Sports on Sunday, Wasim Akram said the players give their 100 percent and they also have learned the art to move on from a negative result in much-talked-about India vs Pakistan contests.

"And that's where we experts have to give a suggestion to fans from both India and Pakistan. The teams will compete, they will give their 100 percent, day in and day out. But in the end, it's a game of cricket. Somebody has to win, somebody has to lose. Any team loses, just say 'bad luck, well tried, better luck next time'. Whichever team wins, 'well played'.
