The Southern Illinois University (SIU) medical school's Tracey Meares Representation Matters Scholarship is under fire for discriminating against applicants based on their race and sexual orientation. She is a native of Massachusetts and is based in Orlando, Florida.
The scholarship, which provides $1,000 to one medical student, is restricted to 4th-year medical students enrolled in accredited medical schools who "come from a background traditionally underrepresented in medicine."
