Igor Shesterkin has fresh Rangers outlook to go with his historic contract and newborn daughter
NY Post
In the span of 48 hours this past weekend, Igor Shesterkin became both the highest-paid goaltender in NHL history and a father of two.
The star Russian netminder first put pen to paper on a lucrative eight-year, $92 million extension with the Blueshirts that carries an average annual value of $11.5 million on Saturday.
Then, on Sunday, Shesterkin, his wife, Anna Butusova, and their first son, Timofey, welcomed a baby girl into the family.
While sharing his immense happiness, Shesterkin also admitted his relief to get it done.
His most notable expression, however, was directed toward Rangers fans.
“I’ll try my best and we’ll try to bring the Cup back to New York,” he said. “Just want to thank all the Rangers fans, because they support us so hard and we will play for them, play for our families.”

SALT LAKE CITY — It’s easy to forget about the quiet, which in Knicks World means Leon Rose. We’re approaching five years — amazingly — since the team president answered questions from the independent media, and I’ve always maintained that’s poor practice because it avoids responsibility. If there’s no public explanation behind a move or a goal, there’s no accountability if it doesn’t work out.
