Ravi Shastri has no regrets over picking Kuldeep Yadav over Ravichandran Ashwin in the 2019 Sydney Test as he feels the Tamil Nadu off-spinner improved his game in red-ball cricket after that omission.

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri on Thursday explained why he picked Kuldeep Yadav over Ravichandran Ashwin in the 2019 Sydney Test against Australia, saying that the chinaman deserved his chanced because he was bowling well at the time.

Kuldeep was preferred over Ashwin and the left-arm spinner repaid the faith of the team management by picking 5 wickets in Australia's first innings which left the hosts reeling before rain saved them from an embarrassing defeat and the Test ended in a draw after India dominated the first four days.
