ICC T20I Rankings: Suryakumar Yadav jumps 35 places to No. 21 in batting chart, Venkatesh Iyer makes big gains

ICC T20I Rankings: While Virat Kohli and KL Rahul retained their spots in the top 10, Suryakumar Yadav rose 35 spots to No. 21 after his heroics in the 3-match series against the West Indies earlier in February.

Suryakumar Yadav is making rapid strides in international cricket and it is reflected in the latest ICC Men's T20I Rankings for batters as the Mumbai Indians star rose 35 places to No. 21. In the latest rankings updated on Wednesday, all-rounder Vanketash Iyer also made significant progress in the T20I batting charts.

Suryakumar and Venkatesh played key roles in India's 3-0 sweep of West Indies in a recently-concluded T20I series in Kolkata. While Suryakumar top-scored in the T20I series for India with 107 runs, Venkatesh was at the second spot with 92 runs. Both the batters had stunning strike rate of over 180 in the 3-match series as India saw their middle-order step up to the occasion.

In the final T20I against the Windies, the two once again bailed India out of trouble from 93/4. Both batters unleashed a barrage of shots against the West Indies bowlers and stitched a 91-run stand in just 37 balls. India posted a competitive total of 184/5, thanks to a stunning 65 off 31 balls from Suryakumar Yadav while Venkatesh Iyer remained unbeaten on 35 off 19.

While Suryakumar has broken into the top 30, Iyer made a massive jump of 203 spots to No.115 in the rankings for batters. West Indies' lone warrior with the bat, Nicholas Pooran, moved five places to No.13. The left-hander hit the fifties in all three T20Is but his efforts ended in vain.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli retained his spot in the top 10 after hitting a match-winning fifty in the 2nd T20I against the West Indies. KL Rahul, who missed the T20I series due to an injury, has retained the No. 6 spot. Only Rahul and Kohli are the Indian batters in the top 10.

Captain Rohit Sharma, who had an ordinary series against the West Indies, is at the 11th spot.

India will not be having Suryakumar Yadav for the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka as the star batter was ruled out due to a hairline fracture on Wednesday. Rohit's men will also miss Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant who were rested while KL Rahul misses out due to injury.
