I'm A Dad Who Developed Paternal Postpartum Depression — And, Yes, It's A Real Thing

As I sat hyperventilating under the desk in my office, I could hear my boss walk in to drop off some mail. I’m unsure whether he knew I was under there as I tried (and failed) to stop the flow of feelings and tears from taking over.  This wasn’t how I saw my dream job going. I worked hard to balance my responsibilities as both an editor at a local alternative weekly and a parent of two young boys, one who was less than a year old, and I felt like I was failing to maintain it. And as the only member of the staff with young kids, I was always concerned that my co-workers thought my children were pulling me away from finding good stories to tell.
