
Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation to declare health insurance scheme for journalists, says Mayor Jyoti Patil

Mayor Jyoti Patil announces a health insurance scheme for journalists at Women’s Day celebrations in Hubballi-Dharwad.
“Journalists play a crucial role in correcting societal flaws despite facing opposition and challenges,” said Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation Mayor Jyoti Patil while announcing that the the civic body would soon declare a health insurance scheme for Journalists it its budget.
She was speaking after inaugurating rangoli and cooking competitions organised to mark Women’s Day, at the Sabha Bhavan of Moorusavira mutt in Hubballi, on March 1. On behalf of the Dharwad district unit of the Karnataka Working Journalists’ Association, Mayor Jyoti Patil inaugurated the programme by drawing a rangoli.
She appreciated the enthusiasm shown by women participants, stating that Women’s Day celebrations should incorporate novelty and creativity.
She said that the rangoli designs reflected affection and artistic expression, and acknowledged the multiple responsibilities women shoulder at home and in society, and said they deserve recognition and respect every day.
Nandini Kashyap, president of the Majethia Foundation, said, “Women have made their mark in financial, political, social and cultural spheres, and should not be confined within four walls.”
Tanuja Nayak, Treasurer of the Dharwad District Working Journalists’ Association, presided over the programme. Prizes were distributed to winners of the competitions.
