How a Waterloo region mural project is bringing people together during the pandemic

Belong Together is a mural project created by Jason Panda in late 2020.
Panda said he was searching for ways to bring people together during an isolating pandemic. So, with the help of a friend, he came up with the idea of wood tiles in the shape of a person, symbolizing oneself.
More than 15,000 were sent out to people in the region, and beyond, to creatively design and then send back.
About 1,800 are now being pieced together to be put on display at the CIGI Campus in Waterloo.
"We might be separate at any given moment in this situation, but we do belong together and we will come together as well," Panda told CBC KW.
The project is still distributing tiles. You can find more information here.
