Hindu outfit to approach Karnataka HC to allow festivals inside Bengaluru’s Idgah Maidan

The Vishwa Sanatan Parishad will approach the Karnataka High Court for permission to allow festivals on the grounds of the Idgah Maidan in Bengaluru.
The Vishwa Sanatan Parishad said on Wednesday that it will approach the Karnataka High Court for permission to celebrate Independence Day and Hindu festivals on the grounds of the Idgah Maidan in Bengaluru. This follows the Central Muslim Association’s (CMA) statement opposing any celebrations on the grounds, claiming that it belongs to the waqf board.
The president of the Vishwa Sanatan Parishad, Bhaskaran said, “We approached the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) joint commissioner but they have not given us an answer regarding our demand. The ground belongs to the BBMP and we demand they put up a board displaying their ownership and also raze down the structure (Minbar) installed on the ground. We will be approaching the Karnataka HC and also meet chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on the issue.”
Meanwhile, Abdul Razack, the general secretary of the Eidgah Masjid and Anjuman-e-Islamia said, “All these people are third parties, they are here to create a divide. It had already reached the Supreme Court in 1962 after a corporation wanted to construct a school on the ground. The top court upheld that Muslims have been on the ground since 1871.”
He further added, “This place was gazetted under the Karnataka waqf board. If the BBMP says they are the owners, let them produce the documents. The CMA is the custodian of the property. They want to celebrate festivals to disrupt the social harmony of the place. When you come with ill-intentions, we will kick you back. We will not allow these stupid things to happen on our ground.”
