Hijab and saffron shawl cannot be compared, says Campus Front of India on Karnataka HC order

Calling the Karnataka High Court’s interim order in the hijab ban case “upsetting”, the CFI has asserted that the hijab and saffron shawl cannot be compared.
With the Karnataka High Court prohibiting students from wearing religious dress to schools and colleges, the Campus Front of India (CFI) has asserted that the hijab and saffron shawl cannot be compared.
Calling the Karnataka High Court’s interim order in the hijab ban case “upsetting”, the students’ body alleged that right-wing organisations were deliberately creating a controversy over the matter to foment unrest and divisiveness.
“Hijab is religious right of Muslims, the hijab and saffron shawl cannot be compared. As part of a joint strategy of the ABVP and BJP to create controversy against the hijab, students start wearing saffron shawls and spreading communal hatred through violence across the state,” said Athaullah Punjalakatte, President of CFI Karnataka.
Punjalakatte further claimed that saffron shawl-wearing protesters put on a “farce” -- blocking roads and staging demonstrations -- to put pressure on the Karnataka High Court on the day it was hearing the hijab case.
The CFI clarified that it had not ordered students not to attend classes till the next date of hearing in the case.

“Waiting until the next hearing of judgment. There is hope of judgment in favour of justice. If judgement is not in favour of justice, then we will continue to fight legally,” the statement read.
