Headmaster suspended for consuming liquor in school, replaced by another teacher following complaints of irregularity.
A 55-year-old headmaster of a panchayat union elementary school at Vairavanpatti in Ponnamaravathi block in Pudukottai district was placed under suspension recently following complaints that he consumed liquor in the school.
An order placing headmaster Anthony under suspension was issued on Saturday (March 22, 2025) by the District Educational Officer (Elementary).
A senior School Education department official said complaints of the headmaster consuming liquor in the school came from the general public. The official further said there were also complaints that the headmaster was irregular to the elementary school which had only seven students.
A Block Educational Officer inspected the school following complaints and gave a report to the District Educational Officer (Elementary) leading to the suspension of the headmaster. Another teacher had been posted on deputation in his place.
