He is not like Harshal Patel: Danish Kaneria questions BCCI for rushing Jasprit Bumrah's comeback after injury

Danish Kaneria questioned BCCI about rushing pacer Jasprit Bumrah's comeback after injury. It has been reported that Bumrah is likely to miss the T20 World Cup in Australia next month owing to back injury.

Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria questioned the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for rushing pacer Jasprit Bumrah's comeback after injury.

Kaneria's comments came after news broke out that Bumrah is likely to miss the T20 World Cup in Australia next month owing to a back injury. The India fast bowler was recently rested for the first T20I against South Africa after complaining of back pain during India's practice session.

After playing in the India tour of England, Bumrah rejoined the team for the T20I series against Australia. He, however, missed the first match at Mohali as a precaution and featured in the next two matches. On his return, he took a wicket against Australia in Nagpur before getting hammered in the third match in Hyderabad.

Kaneria said that Bumrah could have returned directly at the T20 World Cup and to get back into his groove he could have played the practice matches.

"It would have been better if he had returned directly at the T20 World Cup 2022," Kaneria said on his YouTube channel. "He could have played in practice matches to get back into rhythm. He is not like Harshal Patel or any other bowler who would need a lot of time to get back into the groove."

The former Pakistan cricketer further said that Bumrah is injury prone and pointed out how he didn't miss matches for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.

"There are issues with Jasprit Bumrah's back once again. While he is prone to injuries, he has always played all the matches in the IPL. The BCCI and the team management have looked after him well, giving him enough rest. However, it remains to be seen if the medical team were sure that he was ready to return," Kaneria said.
